CHALLENGE

Around the world, there’s a huge shortage of life-saving organs, especially for children. In fact, children tend to wait two and a half times longer than adults. Why the longer wait? This is partly because many adult-sized organs are not suitable for children, and partly because thousands of suitable organs are not donated due to families having not considered organ donation before it’s too late.

Regardless of the opt-in or-out laws in one’s country, surviving family members must still give consent for organs to be donated. Without making clear one’s choice to donate before passing on, surviving family members are often left unsure what their loved ones might have chosen and are therefore unwilling to give consent.

OUR TAKE

Instead of organ donation being an unspoken, heavy topic to broach amongst families, we wanted to help create a world in which organ donation is the norm, thereby increasing the amount of organs donated and increasing the number of subsequent lives saved for this generation and the next.

Through an ever-growing range of fun, educational resources (geared toward children aged between 5 and 11), the Orgamites are on a mission to inspire and equip more people everywhere to talk more about organ donation, take better care of their health, each other
and the world.

AROUND THE WORLD, ORGAN DONATION EDUCATION IS NOT MANDATORY FOR PRIMARY AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. THIS IS OUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE.

THE RESULT

A team of nine life-saving parts found in everyone, the Orgamites have helped to create an entirely new (and much-needed) category within the world of organ donation! Known as the ‘mighty organs’, they represent the parts most needed for donation and transplantation.

To help empower families to have the all-important conversations, we’ve created the biggest armoury of resources, videos, activations, campaigns, events and mainstream products. And we’re just getting started!
