CHALLENGE

The climate crisis is one of the biggest issues that faces us all in the 21st century. It is known that increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is the main cause of this problem, generated in part by excessive deforestation.

OUR TAKE

ONU REDD is the United Nation’s Program for the Reduction of Carbon Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation. Along with the Ministry of Environment of Argentina, we made a documentary to raise awareness about the critical issues that affect native forests and show the fundamental role they have in socio-environmental development. In the project, we made a series of animated pieces to explain, in an educational way, the relationship between forests, carbon emissions, and global warming.

SINCE THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION, THERE HAS BEEN A 42% INCREASE IN ATMOSPHERIC CO2.

THE RESULT

The message was made in a simple way in order for the piece to be clear and educational. We used a graphic system and we made models that only had iconic elements that referenced the story, without components that would be perceived as distracting. The use of colour was utilized as a semantic aspect.

In addition, we developed a script with colloquial language for the voiceover, which accompanies the images and which explains the functioning of the atmosphere from general to particular. This entire format resulted in a replicable, pedagogical and inspiring piece that has now led to a series that is currently in development.
