CAUSE: Drug Trafficking Awareness
Fundación Abogacía Española is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting and defending human rights. Among their many services, they provide legal counsel for Spanish citizens who are imprisoned abroad for drug trafficking offences. In recent years, alongside legal assistance, they have also launched prevention campaigns to raise awareness.
Drug trafficking exists in every culture around the world. Primarily affecting the most vulnerable people in society. The consequences are far-reaching and devastating, contributing to rising levels of poverty, crime, gang violence, domestic and sexual abuse, homelessness, and child neglect, among other serious issues.
In response to this challenge, we produced MULA, a short documentary told through the voices of its protagonists’. It narrates the experiences of four individuals who were arrested for drug trafficking. The film attempts to shed more light on the dire consequences of these acts, in the hopes of decreasing the number of people recruited to the drug trafficking underworld.
In collaboration with Implicate for Fundación Abogacía in 2019, the short film had a private premiere for the philanthropic community. MULA is also part of the campaign’s future plans for wider distribution and fundraising efforts, helping to amplify its reach and impact.
