CHALLENGE

Despite the critical need for organ donations, many in the UK haven’t shared their donation decisions with their families. Misconceptions, myths, and the discomfort of talking about it often hold these important conversations back. While the ‘opt-out’ system has increased awareness, it hasn’t necessarily changed behaviours. Families still have to give final consent, and without knowing their loved one’s wishes, it can be a difficult choice to make. By sharing personal stories, clear information, and heartfelt testimonials, we can help create open and meaningful conversations that make a real difference.

IMPACT

Launched on Valentine’s Day, the campaign emphasised that organ donation does more than save lives—it preserves relationships and memories, allowing love to live on. The films resulted in a 176% increase in charity support for Live Life Give Life, sparking more conversations about organ donation and encouraging families to discuss their wishes.

The films, particularly Jetpack, garnered widespread acclaim, with Rocketships being featured at the Cannes Lions awards and Jetpack earning a spot as one of Vimeo’s Staff Picks. The campaign’s success extended globally, with multiple organ donation charities adopting its message, amplifying its reach and helping ensure that love continues to live on through the gift of life.

SOLUTION

The Let Love Live On campaign, launched on Valentine’s Day, featured three deeply moving love stories, each illustrating how organ donation not only saves lives but also impacts the broader community connected to the recipient.

The first film, Rocketships, named after the song featured in it, was a collaboration between singer Mei Jaye and producer Lucius Arthur. The song’s lyrics reflect a love worth preserving, inspired by Mei’s personal connection to organ donation—her father was a kidney transplant recipient.

Following this, the Love Stories mini-documentary series explored couples’ journeys of falling in love and how well they know each other—except when it comes to organ donation.

The final film, Jetpack, created in collaboration with Daniel Stankler, is a quirky animated love story. It explores how organ donation not only saves lives but also preserves emotional connections and memories. The heart-shaped jetpacks symbolise the bonds that organ donation safeguards, highlighting the fragility of life and love when health is at risk.

Each of these films carried the powerful message: Let love live on—through organ donation.
