CAUSE: Environment Awareness
This project, led by Fundación INVAP, aims to warm homes in Patagonia without contributing to deforestation, reducing the risk of wildfires, and creating quality jobs in the region. Our role was to explain how the system works, foster local pride, and encourage real grassroots support and adoption of this innovative heating solution.
In Argentine Patagonia, each season brings unique challenges. During the summer, high temperatures and light rainfall heighten the risk of wildfires, threatening the region’s flora, fauna, and human lives. In winter, low temperatures create the need for heating systems and many homes still lack efficient ones, especially in the most vulnerable communities.
Because design is such a core value in Andean Bioenergy, we wanted to collaborate with a team that could bring a strong visual style to this campaign. We reached out to Ganztoll, a duo of designers we greatly admire, with a demanding brief: we needed to combine smart technology with a warm, inviting vibe. Additionally, we wanted the project to feel proudly local, with a distinct connection to Bariloche, Patagonia.
Through a diverse range of characters, we portrayed the Bariloche´s inhabitants and backgrounds, thereby emphasising how the project would only be viable if local communities actively got involved. We brought these beautiful designs to life using a mixed media approach, blending digital animation with live-action scale models.
The campaign is expected to inspire significant community engagement, encouraging local adoption of the heating system by fostering pride in Bariloche’s culture and landscape. It could also promote sustainable heating practices, reducing deforestation and wildfire risks, while creating quality jobs in Patagonia. By combining local design with smart technology, the project not only addresses environmental challenges but also strengthens the region’s identity and economic stability.
